Cabinet Painting & Refinishing in Ventura County

When you’re investing in interior painting for your home, the difference between a good result and an exceptional one comes down to preparation, technique, and attention to detail. At Asis Painting, we’ve spent over two decades perfecting the craft – learning from my father and brother, and building a team that treats every project like it’s our own home.

Why Refinish Instead of Replace?

Cost Savings: Professional cabinet refinishing typically costs 40-60% less than full replacement. You keep quality construction and invest in a fresh, modern appearance.

Faster Timeline: Cabinet replacement takes 4-8 weeks from order to installation. Refinishing takes 5-10 days from start to finish, with less disruption to your daily routine.

Environmental Responsibility: Refinishing keeps functional cabinets out of landfills and reduces the environmental impact of manufacturing and transporting new materials.

Customization: Choose any color or finish you want—not limited to what manufacturers offer. We can match designer paint colors, create custom tones, or restore original wood beauty.

Preserve Quality Construction: Older cabinets often feature solid wood construction that’s superior to many modern options. Refinishing maintains that quality while updating the look.

What Ventura County Homeowners Say About Our Cabinet Painting Services

Meet The Owner

Abad Gomez — Founder of Asis Painting & Artists at Work

“To me, it’s not just about finishing walls. It’s about building a legacy through excellence, leadership, and pride in our work.”

— Abad Gomez

Abad Gomez didn’t just grow up around paint — he was raised in it. Learning the trade from his father and brother, Abad started in the field, brush in hand, soaking in the discipline and detail of real craftsmanship.

But he saw a gap in the industry — a need for a higher standard, a more professional experience, and a brand built on legacy, not shortcuts.

So he built Asis Painting with one mission: to raise the bar.

Today, Abad leads a curated team of trained craftsmen, not just painters — professionals who treat every home and commercial space like a canvas. Under his leadership, Asis Painting has earned a reputation across Ventura County and beyond for white-glove service, artistic precision, and unmatched care.

Cabinet Refinishing vs. Cabinet Painting: What's the Difference?

Cabinet Painting: Applying new color over existing finish (wood, laminate, or previously painted surfaces). This transforms color while maintaining the current surface type.

Cabinet Refinishing: Stripping old finish down to bare wood, then applying stain or paint. This is necessary when the existing finish is damaged, when you want to change from paint to stain (or vice versa), or when cabinets have multiple layers of old paint.

We’ll recommend the right approach during your consultation based on your cabinet condition and goals.

Choosing the Right Finish for Your Cabinets

Matte/Flat: Hides imperfections but shows fingerprints and is harder to clean. Rarely recommended for cabinets.

Satin: Low sheen with good durability and cleanability. Popular for traditional and transitional kitchens.

Semi-Gloss: More reflective, very durable, easy to wipe clean. Ideal for busy kitchens and bathrooms. Our most recommended finish.

High-Gloss: Ultra-smooth, modern appearance. Shows every imperfection in prep, so requires expert application. Best for contemporary designs.

We guide you toward the finish that matches your style and practical needs.

FAQ’S

Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer?

We offer full-service interior and exterior painting, custom finishes, cabinet refinishing, drywall and stucco repair, commercial and multi-unit repaints, and more. Visit our services page for a complete list.

Yes. Asis Painting is fully licensed, bonded, and insured. We carry both liability and workers’ compensation coverage to protect our clients and team.

Start dates vary based on our current schedule and the scope of your project. We aim to be transparent with timelines and will always provide a clear start date during the proposal process.

We offer free, detailed on-site consultations. After our walkthrough, we’ll provide a customized proposal outlining the scope, pricing, materials, and schedule – no hidden fees, no surprises.

With professional preparation and quality materials, expect 10-15 years of beautiful performance. Proper care extends this further. DIY jobs often fail within 1-2 years due to poor prep or wrong products.

We take prep seriously – from surface cleaning, patching, and sanding to full protection of floors, furniture, and fixtures. Prep is what ensures a lasting, high-quality finish.

Timelines depend on the size and complexity of the project. We provide a realistic timeline in your proposal and stick to it, with updates throughout the job.

We use only high-quality, professional-grade products from trusted brands like Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore. We tailor paint selection to your project needs and preferences.

Yes. We stand behind our work and offer workmanship warranties on most projects. We’ll review the warranty details with you before the job starts.

Yes. We’ll fill old holes and drill new ones for updated handles and hinges. This is included if new hardware uses the same hole pattern, or available as an add-on for different configurations.

We paint all visible interior areas as standard. Full interior painting (inside where dishes sit) is available on request but typically unnecessary unless you’re changing from dark to light cabinets.

Wipe spills promptly with a damp cloth. Use mild soap and water for cleaning – avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. The finish is durable but not indestructible. Treat them reasonably and they’ll look great for years.
